The roots of Luwa - a success story
1935 Brothers Hans C. and Walter A. Bechtler founded Luwa AG in Zurich to manufacture and install automatic heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. The Luwa name was derived from the first syllables of the German words Luft, for air, and Waerme, for heat.
1941 License for exhaust systems for spinning machines, patents for the Pneumafil products, launching of the TAC philosophy and upgrading of the product range.
1947 Worldwide growth with agencies and affiliated companies.
1972 Opening of Luwa Engineering (Pte) Ltd. in Singapore as sales office of Luwa Switzerland.
1993 Foundation of Luwa India Pvt. Ltd., as a joint venture between Luwa and Eastern Engineering Co.
1998 Joint venture with the Forward Group in Shanghai, China. Opening of the logistic centre Luwa Forward Air Engineering Ltd.
2003 Take-over of all shares and renaming the company Luwa Air Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd., China.
2004 Opening of sales and service office in New Delhi, India.
2005 Factory expansion in Luwa Shanghai (second facility).
2007 Acquisition of all shares of Luwa India Pvt. Ltd by Luwa Air Engineering AG.
2009 Taking over activities of Koenig AG, Oberaach, Switzerland. Expanding product range into economical and eco-friendly heat recovery systems.
